On 11 September 2010 around 200 people attended a manifestation against the right-wing racist Dutch politician Geert Wilders. Held in the Hague outside of the parliament building, the action called attention to the danger of, and public opposition to, the possible formation of a new government coalition supported by his so-called "Party for Freedom" (PVV) which did well in the last election through a campaign against Islam and immigrants. At the same time Wilders' presence at today's racist demonstration in New York (against the building of an Islamic center not far from the former World Trade Center) was highlighted. Wilders is well known for exporting his message of hate and encouraging Islamophobic action in other European countries, the US, and Israel. In the Netherlands he currently faces prosecution for incitement to racism, yet his party's strength is at an all time high.

The demonstration was organized on short notice by NBK, a broad anti-racist organization. A number of speakers from somewhat different political positions spoke in unity against the racist danger posed by Wilders and any role for him in the next government coalition. They were backed up by a number of poetry readings and rap performances with the same message. The significance of the date, 11 September, was a frequent theme, both in relation to the New York controversy and insofar as it marked the beginning of George Bush's so-called "war on terror" which continues to this day and encourages Islamophobia. The manifestation closed with the people and organizations resolved to continue the fight against Wilders, racism, and with plans to counter-demonstrate against an action planned in Amsterdam by the fascist English Defense League in October.
