 _Water and sanitation are a human right!_  

	LAST CHANCE TO SIGN! 

	On 9 September we will close the collection of online 
signatures for our European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) "Water is a 
human right!" In these last few days we will continue our efforts to 
achieve as many signatures as possible. We have already passed the 
minimum threshold in twelve countries and we are close to achieving 
this in Portugal, Hungary, Sweden, Cyprus and France as well. If we 
do, we would have the support of a significant number of citizens in 
17 EU COUNTRIES. That would be a fabulous success for our campaign 
and so our last call is especially to all Portuguese, Hungarians, 
Swedes, French and Cypriots to sign our ECI at www.right2water.eu 
[2] !  

	On 10 September we will start to hand in the signatures to 
national authorities for verification. Within three months we will 
be informed of the final number of valid signatures and then we will 
have a hearing in the European Parliament, followed by a response 
from the European Commission. We aim to announce a successful 
outcome for the campaign for the human right to water and sanitation 
on Human Rights Day: 10 December.  

	The latest figures by country and the minimum number of 
signatures required per country can be seen on our website:

promote the ECI "Water is a human right!" in all EU countries right 
up to the 9th September. By collecting more signatures, we can put 
more pressure on the European Commission to get our proposals turned 
into European legislation.  

	WATER AND SANITATION ARE A HUMAN RIGHT! WATER IS A PUBLIC 
GOOD, NOT A COMMODITY! Many millions of people continue to be 
deprived of clean, safe and affordable water and sanitation, even in 
Europe. The European Commission can do something about it, but WE 
have to put it on their agenda.
