Global Village

is a metaphor.
I’m going to talk about global village as a metaphor. This discourse of mine will be metaphorical. A reason to dislike metaphors: it subjects me to it’s rule.
Metaphor is violent - as well as global village.
I don’t like metaphors.
They give hints. They hide and tell me that they hide. However, they hide deliberately badly, so I can get to know what they hide. Why does one hide anything? Because of a fear? Something must not be said in public. Let me remind you: I do not talk about politics here (not only). Literature is a home of metaphor. Daily press as well. Everywhere is a reason for obedience, or following the rule. Anonymous ruler took over our lives. I do not know since when, but I know where: everywhere. A reason which makes a village of our planet.
But why VILLAGE instead of CITY? maybe because a village is more human, with more immediate human relations? At the other hand, a village is a place far from the city, and the city is the center of power. This is a structure of metaphor: a peripheral form of expression and a hidden, distant meaning. The former is something immediate: the latter is invisible, strange but known - with a fear. Who visits villages? Authorities, taxmen and soldiers. And tourists! Villagers must and do defraud all of them: in order to hide money or to take money. In a Global Village we all cheat the others. But who are the others? In a Global Village as a global metaphor, the others are anonymous, extremely distant, so distant that they may be do not exist. There is just a form of expression, a periphery - without a center. We live - if at all - in a Global Village, a periphery of nothing, of ourselves, our fears, our imagination
