      PESIC ON HAVEL

The president of the Civil Alliance of Serbia, Vesna Pesic, in
Prague on Wednesday said that Czech President Vaclav Havel
supported Zajedno and the democratic forces in Serbia.

  25 RADICALS ON MILOSEVIC

The deputy president of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS), Tomislav
Nikolic, on Wednesday said that his party would like Slobodan
Milosevic to run for President again, so that Vojislav Seselj
      could beat him.

30 ``But Milosevic's candidacy is forbidden by the constitution,''
said Mr Nikolic, ``According to the constitution, Milosevic may be
a candidate a hundred times, but can be elected only twice. If he
respects the constitution, he will not stand.''

The president of the SRS, Vojislav Seselj said that Milorad
35 Vucelic could be the presidential candidate of the Socialist Party
of Serbia. ``The SPS has realized the damage done to it by the
Yugoslav Left,'' said Mr Seselj, ``So the Socialists are keeping
the Left out of the public eye, and taking the least painful step.
They are looking for temporary solutions, such as Zoran Djindjic
40 (the leader of the Democratic Party).''

DJINDJIC AND VOJVODINA COALITION ON PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES

The Vojvodina Coalition's Dragan Veselinov and Zajedno's Zoran
Djindjic on Wednesday discussed the current situation in Serbia
and the forthcoming elections. A statement from the Vojvodina
45 coalition said that the two leaders had discussed electoral
conditions, electoral units, the media situation, democratic
changes to the system in Serbia and potential presidential
      candidates.

      RUSSIANS ON MILOSEVIC

50 The Russian state news agency, ITAR-TASS, on Wednesday reported
that Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic may stand again,
speculating that he could pass another lex specialis for that
purpose. The agency said that everything depended on
interpretations of the Serbian consitution, and that Milosevic
55 could possibly extend his mandate for another two years.

      AMERICANS ON MILOSEVIC

American media have widely reported the current speculation about
a third term for Slobodan Milosevic. American National Radio on
Wednesday reported the first bitter reactions of the Zajedno
60 coalition and warnings from legal experts that another Milosevic
candidacy would violate the constitution. CNN commented that
Milosevic was providing a new distraction for his rivals to waste
      their time on.

      GSS MEETS SDA

65 Representatives of the Civic Alliance of Serbia (GSS) and the
Party for Democratic Action (SDA) from Sandzak, (a Serbian
province, mostly populated by Muslims) met in Belgrade on
Wednesday. The two parties exchanged views on the current
political situation in Serbia, defined common aims in their
70 parties' platforms and agreed to cooperate during this electoral
      year.
