    AGREEMENT UNACCEPTABLE TO US

US officials in Washington on Tuesday said that the Agreement on
Special Relations between Yugoslavia and Republika Srpska was
unacceptable to the US Government at this time. They added that
Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic had been repeatedly warned
that such a step should not be taken until full diplomatic
relations had been established between Yugoslavia and Bosnia and
Herzegovina, as required by the Dayton Agreement.

    FRANCE IMPARTIAL

Following Monday's meeting between the French and Yugoslav foreign
ministers, French Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Jacques
Rimelar gave the following statement to Radio B92:

``We were happy to meet Mr Milutinovic in Paris. The visit came
two weeks after that of the Zajedno leaders and demonstrates that
France is not taking sides in internal affairs of Serbia. In
accordance with its traditional friendship with Serbia, France is
interested in the development of democratic processes. Zajedno
have demanded that the Gonzales recommendations be implemented.
The Serbian authorities wanted the Gonzales report and took
responsibility for its implementation. What we want is the
development of the process and the OSCE is able to play a certain
role in that: it can give advice and be guarantor and monitor of
    the process of democritasition.''

``We also discussed the possible opening of a European Union
office in Pristina and the agreement between Yugoslavia and
Republika Srpska. We want Karl Bildt's opinion to be respected.''

    MONTENGRIN SHIPS TO SAIL

The US administration has confirmed that five American ships which
have been impounded in American ports since the introduction of
international sanctions against Yugoslavia would soon be released
and would sail in early May. Official confirmation has been sent
to the Yugoslav Embassy in Washington and to the Prime Minister of
    Montenegro.
