      NEW YORK CONFERENCE

The Socialist Party of Serbia on Wednesday announced that its
20 representative at the forthcoming Serb-Albanian negotiations in
New York would be Ivica Dacic, a member of the party's executive
      board.

Serbian Renewal Movement President Vuk Draskovic said on Wednesday
that he had not decided whether he would participate in the New
25 York conference. Mr Draskovic stressed that if the negotiations
were official discussions he would not attend, as all talks on
Kosovo should be held in Yugoslavia.

Mr Draskovic added that the Zajedno triumvirate would be in
Washington on a three-day visit, during which they would meet US
30 Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

      TOMIC: NO EARLY ELECTIONS

Serbian Parliament Speaker, Dragan Tomic, on Wednesday stated that
there were no indications for the Serbian elections to be held
before the due time, says Wednesday's issue of the Belgrade daily
35 Dnevni Telegraf. ``These will be regular elections, due late this
year.'' Asked on who will be the presidential candidate of the
Socialist Party of Serbia, Mr. Tomic answered: ``We do not know
yet, it is too early for that.''

SOCIALISTS START TV AND NEWSPAPERS IN NIS

40 Preparations are underway for the launch of a new television
station and newspaper in Nis. The local branch of the Socialist
Party has announced that it has sufficient funds to launch the new
