Democratic Party: Police blocks demonstrations in Belgrade sunday evening

Belgrade, 21:00 CET, Feabruary 2, 1997.

Right now there is the police blocade of ALL vital Belgrade streets.

The police forces blockade the citizens from New Belgrade led by Mr. Vuk Draskovic on the Branko's Bridge which connects new and old part of the city. There is a HIGH RISK of clashing between the police and citizens. UNOFICIALLY, we have learnt that water-cannons are ready and that policemen got orders to shoot.

Large groups of people from all parts of the city are marching towards the city center to join the usual central rally.
