Dutch students solidarity with Serbian students
On saturday, the first of march, there will be a
solidarity-manifestation for the then 100 days
demonstrating Serbian students. They are demonstrating
for:
- recognition of the election's result (at this
moment partly fullfilled)
- the democratizing of the university-councel (the
subjection of the councellor and his vice
councellor of the Belgrade university)
- free media
The Serbian political opposition [Zajedno] announced a
three week break in her demonstrations, the students
will go on. We want to support them in doing so.
Subscribing organisations to this soldidarity-event are:
LSVb (Dutch National Students Union), Tiburg Za Mir
(regional peace-organisation), IKV (national
interchurchal peace council), LHUMP (progressive and
environmental students organisation), Dwars (young
radicals), JD (young democrats), JS (young
socialists), AEGEE (international European students
coalition) and USIC (Utrecht Students In Contact).
The programm of the manifestation will be:
- Different guestspeakers (students- and peace
organisations)
- Live contact with protestleaders in Belgrade
- The offering of an appeal to the Serbian president
and government via the Yugoslavian embassy in the
Hague (but not personally, the ambassador considered
this to be a ridicule'question.)
The media is invited to be present at this
manifestation, saturday the first of march, 14.00 h.
at the Carnegie-plein in the Hague (in front of the
peace palace). The meeting will last till 17.00 h. We
hope to meet all of you there.
