Jelena Santic passed away

Jelena Santic from Belgrade passed away on 17 March 2000. Jelena received the Pax Christi International Peace Award in 1996. She has been the spokeswoman for Grupo 484, a NGO in former Yugoslavia.

If anybody deserved to live to be and to see at least the beginning of the end of the tragedy in which we are living, than it was resolute, tender, fragile and brave Jelena, who has been fighting so much for the better life of us all. Her inexhaustible energy and dedication to problems and sufferings of the others will continue to inspire us. Her faith that by action we could change the world in which we are living, will stay as our permanent strategy."

The commemoration will be held in National Theatre, Belgrade, on Monday, March 20, at 1 PM, and in Center for Cultural Decontamination on Tuesday, March 21, at 12 o'clock. The funeral will be on Wednesday, March 22, on Novo groblje, Belgrade, at 12 o'clock.

Please keep Jelena Santic in your prayers.
