Local government elections in April?

BELGRADE, Monday - The governing Socialist Party of Serbia has notified its municipal committees that local government elections will be held in April, according to media reports today. Belgrade daily "Blic" quotes sources in Socialist circles as saying that coalition partners the Yugoslav Left and the Serbian Radical Party have already agreed on an election date.

Officials of the Nis and Novi Sad branch committees of the Socialist Party today both denied having received notice of April elections.

Serbian Information Minister Aleksandar Vucic today told media in the central Serbian city of Kragujevac that elections would be held this year. Vucic, who is a senior official of the Serbian Radical Party, said that he expected the Radicals to again win the trust of voters.
