Reinhardt and Albright condemn rocket attack in Kosovo

PRISTINA, WASHINGTON, Thursday - Senior officials of the international community in Kosovo have condemned the rocket attack on a UNHCR bus which killed two Serbs in Kosovo yesterday. KFOR Commander Klaus Reinhardt said today that he was shocked and deeply disturbed by what he described as a terrorist incident. Reinhardt emphasised that the peace forces and the UN mission would conduct a full and thorough investigation.

US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright told media that the US condemned what was a cowardly attack, adding that it would only contribute to the spiral of violence which had hit Kosovo. Albright added that the US was calling on leaders of the Albanian community in Kosovo to publicly condemn the attack.

International military representatives in northern Kosovo said today that they had arrested two Albanians in connection with the attack last night but had released them because of lack of evidence.
