Government appeals to international community

BELGRADE, Friday - Deputy Federal Foreign Minister Nebojsa Vujovic today appealed to the international community to abolish sanctions against Yugoslavia and not to begin new military campaigns in the country. Vujovic, speaking at a press conference today, also said that the people of Montenegro had the right to decide their own fate, noting that the Belgrade regime believed that the Yugoslav federation was the best option for both Serbia and Montenegro.

Serbian Renewal Movement spokesman Ognjen Pribicevic told media this afternoon that the regime was now making public demands for the lifting of sanctions in order to ensure that this did not happen. Pribicevic added that the Belgrade authorities were concerned that the sanctions could be lifted because they were what kept them in power.
